College Council

Curriculum Development: The College’s academic curriculum is primarily developed and revised by College Council. This entails creating new courses, updating those that already exist, and making sure the curriculum complies with the most recent standards for academic achievement and commercial trends.

Program Approval: The council is responsible for reviewing and approving new academic programs, such as degree programs, certificates, and courses. It assesses their feasibility, relevance, and alignment with the college's mission and goals.

Quality Assurance: Ensuring the quality of education is a primary responsibility of the council. It monitors the teaching and learning processes, reviews student assessments, and implements strategies for continuous improvement.

Policy Development: The College Council plays a key role in formulating and revising academic policies, including those related to admissions, examinations, grading, attendance, and academic integrity. It also ensures compliance with government regulations and accreditation standards.

Faculty Appointments and Promotions: The council may be involved in the selection and promotion of faculty members. It evaluates candidates' qualifications, teaching performance, and contributions to research

The council may be involved in addressing academic issues related to students, including appeals, grievances, and disciplinary matters. It also promotes and supports initiatives that contribute to student success and overall development.

Encouraging and supporting research and innovation among faculty and students is another key responsibility. This includes allocating resources for research projects, promoting collaborations, and facilitating the dissemination of research findings.

The council is responsible for establishing the academic calendar, including semester schedules, examination dates, and vacation periods. It ensures that the calendar aligns with academic requirements and meets the needs of both students and faculty.

While financial decisions are often handled by the college administration, the College Council may provide valuable input on budgetary matters related to academic programmes, research activities, and faculty development initiatives.

The council works to ensure that the college maintains its accreditation status by complying with the requirements of accreditation agencies. It also oversees assessment processes to measure student learning outcomes and evaluate programme effectiveness.
