The Department of Computer Applications, in association with IQAC, successfully organized the Internship Certificate Distribution Ceremony – "Industry Connect 2026" on 31st July 2026 (Friday) from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at MPN Hall, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram.
The ceremony was organized to recognize the successful completion of internships by students and to appreciate their commitment towards experiential learning. The event aimed to strengthen the connection between academic learning and industry exposure while motivating students to enhance their professional skills.
The programme was graced by Dr.Finose A, Vice Principal, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, who distributed the internship certificates to the students. During his address, he emphasized the importance of internships in developing practical knowledge, improving employability, and preparing students to meet the evolving demands of the industry. He congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to continue upgrading their skills for successful careers.
Faculty members, students, and invited guests attended the programme. GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous) organised a National Space Day Competition to celebrate India’s achievements in space exploration and to encourage students’ creativity, scientific thinking and interest in astronomy. Competitions including Painting, Essay Writing, Science Fiction Short Story, Science Fiction Short Poem and Astrophotography were conducted with enthusiastic participation from students across various departments. The programme provided a platform for students to express their imagination and scientific curiosity while celebrating the spirit of space exploration. The winners were honoured for their outstanding performances and creative contributions.

The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Entrepreneurship Development (ED) Club, organized a seminar on Entrepreneurship Development titled "Turn Your Creativity into a Successful Business" on 11th August 2026 at the MPN Hall. The programme was conducted with the objective of introducing students to entrepreneurship opportunities and encouraging them to explore creative skills as potential career and business ventures.

The session was led by Ms. Sameema Mol, Assistant Professor and ED Club Coordinator, GEMS ASC, who discussed the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and the importance of creativity, innovation, and business awareness. The session highlighted various opportunities available to Multimedia students to transform their creative skills into sustainable ventures, including freelancing, creative services, digital content production, and other entrepreneurial possibilities.

The resource person also emphasized the importance of identifying market opportunities, developing professional skills, understanding customer needs, and maintaining a growth-oriented approach while building a creative business. Students actively participated in the session and interacted with the resource person, sharing their ideas and clarifying their doubts regarding entrepreneurship and career opportunities.

The seminar was attended by 60 students from the second and third year B.A. Multimedia batches. The session provided students with practical perspectives on entrepreneurship and encouraged them to view their creative and technical abilities from a broader professional and business-oriented perspective.

Overall, the seminar was an informative and engaging session that encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career pathway and to consider new possibilities for applying their multimedia skills in the creative industry.

The Student Seminar Series, organized by the Research Cell in association with IQAC, was successfully conducted as part of the Student Development Programme. The seminar provided students with a valuable platform to share knowledge, develop presentation skills, enhance confidence, and explore emerging areas of technology. A seminar was presented by Ms. Fathima Saja, S5 BCA, Department of Computer Applications, on the topic “Agentic AI Architecture: Autonomous Planning & Execution.” The programme was conducted on 14 August 2026 at the Research and Innovation Centre.

The PG Department of English Language and Literature, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organised “Cinematica – Where Stories Come Alive on Screen” on 30 July 2026 at Syndicate Movies, Koppam. The programme was conducted from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with Mr. Yunus T., Speaker and Social Critic, as the resource person.

The programme focused on developing students’ understanding and appreciation of cinema as an important cultural and artistic medium. The first session, “Classical Movies: A Talk on the Timeless Magic of Cinema,” explored the significance, artistic value, and enduring appeal of classical films. Students were encouraged to explore, analyse, and appreciate cinema critically.

The Department of Management Studies and the Department of Multimedia, in association with Thoughts Mind Lab, Calicut, organized a Career Guidance Programme – "Career Steps 2K26: Develop Emotional Intelligence – Build Exceptional Leadership" on 30 July 2026 (Thursday) from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the M.P. Narayana Menon Hall, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous). The programme was conducted for the final-year BBA and BA Multimedia students, with a total of 66 students participating.
The session was led by Mr. Yogi Madathil Sudheep Raj, Certified Mind Tuning Practitioner and Counsellor, who served as the Resource Person. He delivered an engaging and interactive session on the importance of Emotional Intelligence (EI) and Leadership Skills in personal growth and professional success. The session emphasized self-awareness, emotional regulation, effective communication, teamwork, confidence, empathy, decision-making, and leadership qualities required in today's competitive workplace.
The active participation and enthusiastic interaction of the students made the session highly engaging, resulting in the programme being extended until 12:00 PM. Faculty members, supporting staff, and students actively participated, making the programme a meaningful and successful career guidance initiative that inspired students to prepare confidently for their future careers.

The Training & Placement Cell organized a training session for teachers titled “Understanding Student Preference & Job Category Awareness – Phase 2” on 29 July 2026 at MP Narayana Menon Hall. The session was conducted with the objective of strengthening teachers’ understanding of students’ career preferences and creating greater awareness about different job categories and placement opportunities. The programme aimed to Develop teachers’ understanding of students’ career interests and job preferences. To Create awareness about various job categories and emerging career opportunities. Enable teachers to provide more effective career guidance and placement support to students. Familiarize faculty members with the MySkillDB placement tool.

Session Details:

The session was handled by Mr. Ajay Krishnan, Product Strategist & Technology Leader, MySkillDB. The resource person provided valuable insights into understanding students’ career aspirations and identifying suitable job categories based on their interests, skills, qualifications, and career goals. A significant component of the session was the introduction to MySkillDB, a placement-oriented tool designed to support an organized and efficient placement process. Faculty members were introduced to the various aspects of the tool and its relevance in understanding student profiles, career preferences, and placement requirements. The session also emphasized the importance of faculty involvement in the placement ecosystem. Teachers were encouraged to understand the changing employment landscape and guide students towards suitable career pathways based on their individual strengths and aspirations. The training session enhanced faculty members’ awareness of students’ career preferences and the diverse job opportunities available in the current employment market. Participants gained an understanding of how technology-enabled placement tools such as MySkillDB can support systematic student profiling and placement management. The session also encouraged faculty members to play a more active role in identifying student aspirations, guiding them towards suitable career options, and strengthening the overall placement ecosystem of the institution. The “Understanding Student Preference & Job Category Awareness – Phase 2” training session was a valuable initiative towards developing a more student-centric and systematic placement process. The insights shared by Mr. Ajay Krishnan helped faculty members understand their role in supporting students’ career development while also familiarizing them with tools and procedures for effective placement management. The programme contributed to the Training & Placement Cell’s objective of building a stronger and more efficient.

The PG Department of Social Work, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, organized the Student Induction Programme (SIP) 2026–27 for newly admitted first-year MSW students on 16 and 17 July 2026. The programme aimed to familiarize students with the department, MSW curriculum, communication skills, professional social work, and field education.The programme featured an Ice-Breaking Session and Introduction to Field Work by Mr. Muhibbul Haque P, a session on Sociological Frameworks in Communication by Mr. Abhin P.C., a Department Introduction by Mr. Anas Tharakan, an Introduction to Social Work by Ms. Thasleema Jaleel, and "വായന, സർഗാത്മകത, ജീവിതം" by Mr. Jeevesh M. The programme concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from the first-year MSW students. It provided a comprehensive orientation to the department, academic structure, professional values, communication skills, and field work, helping students begin their MSW journey with confidence.

As part of the birth anniversary observance of Premchand, the eminent Hindi-Urdu writer renowned for his portrayal of rural life and agrarian society, the Department of Languages, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organised an outreach programme to honour farmers and agricultural labourers by presenting them with Onakkodi. The initiative aimed to foster students' appreciation of agricultural communities, rural livelihoods, and the social relevance of Premchand's literary contributions.
The programme provided students with experiential learning opportunities through interactions with farmers and visits to paddy fields, vegetable farms, and coffee plantations, thereby strengthening their understanding of agriculture, rural life, and the dignity of labour.
