The Department of Computer Applications, in association with the IPR Cell, organized an informative session on Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Era on 23rd October 2025. The event was held in the BCA classroom from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 26 students from the department.
The session aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the modern digital landscape. The resource person for the session was Dr. Deepthi V. C., Assistant Professor, PG Department of Biotechnology, who elaborated on various aspects of IPR, including copyrights, patents, trademarks, and digital content protection. Special emphasis was placed on the challenges and opportunities that arise in safeguarding digital creations such as software, multimedia, and online publications.
Students were introduced to the significance of respecting intellectual property and understanding the legal frameworks that protect creators in cyberspace. Dr. Deepthi also discussed real-life cases of digital piracy, plagiarism, and patent violations, highlighting how technological advancements have transformed the concept of ownership and creativity.
The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to ask questions and share their views on topics such as open-source software, digital innovation, and ethical content use. The event successfully deepened their understanding of how intellectual property laws apply to digital works and emphasized the need for responsible and lawful use of online resources.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Bijili mubeen of S1 BCA, who expressed gratitude to Dr. Deepthi V. C., the faculty members, and the organizing team for conducting such an insightful and thought-provoking program. The Department of Computer Applications, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized the second session of the Alumni Lecture Series on 22nd October 2025. The session was conducted via Google Meet from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., with a total of 54 participants including students and faculty members.
The resource person for the session was Mr. Harshid K. C., an alumnus of the BCA 2021–2024 batch, who is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Calicut. He delivered a talk on the topic “Crafting ATS-Friendly Resumes and a Guide to MCA Entrance Exams.”
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sandhya Balakrishnan P. K., Head of the Department of BCA, who introduced the speaker and appreciated his willingness to interact with his juniors and share his insights.
In his talk, Mr. Harshid K. C. discussed the importance of designing ATS (Applicant Tracking System)-friendly resumes, explaining how modern recruitment systems filter and rank resumes based on keywords and formatting. He guided students on creating impactful resumes by focusing on structure, clarity, and the use of relevant terms.
He also shared valuable tips and strategies for MCA entrance examination preparation, including recommended study materials, time management techniques, and the importance of consistent practice. Drawing from his own experience, he encouraged students to remain focused and goal-oriented in their academic journey.
The session concluded with an engaging interaction where students clarified their doubts related to career building and higher studies. A vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Asna K. S., Assistant Professor, Department of BCA, who expressed gratitude to the speaker and participants for making the event a success.
Overall, the second lecture of the Alumni Lecture Series proved to be an informative and motivating session, providing students with practical insights into resume building and postgraduate opportunities in computer applications.

An informative session on AI for HR Interview and LinkedIn was conducted for the BCA Final Year students in the BCA Lab from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM on 19/01/2026. The program was organized by the Department of Computer Applications with the objective of helping students understand the role of Artificial Intelligence in modern recruitment processes and professional networking.
The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Sandhya Balakrishnan, Head of the Department of Computer Applications. She warmly welcomed the resource person and the students and highlighted the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in recruitment and career development. She also emphasized the need for students to maintain a strong professional presence on platforms like LinkedIn.
The session was handled by Mr. Dileep M. B, Co-Founder of One Team, who served as the resource person. He delivered an engaging presentation explaining how Artificial Intelligence is increasingly used in HR interviews and recruitment processes. He shared insights on how companies use AI tools to screen resumes, analyze candidate profiles, and shortlist suitable candidates.
A major focus of the session was LinkedIn profile optimization. The resource person explained how students can build an effective and professional LinkedIn profile that attracts recruiters. He also discussed how AI-based tools help in personalized job matching, enabling candidates to find job opportunities that match their skills and interests.
In addition, the session highlighted how AI tools assist students in exploring various career paths and identifying skill gaps. The speaker encouraged students to continuously upgrade their technical and soft skills in order to stay competitive in the job market.
The session was interactive, with students actively participating and asking questions related to job searching, LinkedIn networking, and AI-based recruitment systems. The practical examples and valuable tips shared by the resource person helped students gain a better understanding of how to prepare for modern hiring processes.

On January 14, 2026, the Department of Computer Applications at GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous) organized an insightful session titled "AMU Admission Roadmap: Mastering CUET, Career Development" at the MPN Hall. The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Sandhya Balakrishnan,who set a positive tone for the event and introduced the distinguished guests. The primary focus of the session was to guide students through the admission complexities of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and the strategic preparation required for the CUET examination.
The keynote speakers, Mr. Shihabudheen, Admission Officer at AMU Perinthalmanna, and Dr. Fahid KV, Assistant Professor and Career Coach, shared expert advice on navigating entrance protocols and aligning academic goals with professional career development. Their insights provided the students with a clear and practical roadmap for their future academic pursuits. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Fathima Safa (S6 BCA),who expressed gratitude to the speakers for their valuable time and to the department for organizing such a beneficial session. The event successfully empowered the participants with the knowledge and confidence needed to excel in competitive admissions.

The Department of Computer Applications, in association with IQAC, successfully organized the Internship Certificate Distribution Ceremony – "Industry Connect 2026" on 31st July 2026 (Friday) from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at MPN Hall, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram.
The ceremony was organized to recognize the successful completion of internships by students and to appreciate their commitment towards experiential learning. The event aimed to strengthen the connection between academic learning and industry exposure while motivating students to enhance their professional skills.
The programme was graced by Dr.Finose A, Vice Principal, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, who distributed the internship certificates to the students. During his address, he emphasized the importance of internships in developing practical knowledge, improving employability, and preparing students to meet the evolving demands of the industry. He congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to continue upgrading their skills for successful careers.
Faculty members, students, and invited guests attended the programme. The certificate distribution was conducted in a systematic manner, with students receiving certificates acknowledging the successful completion of their internships.
