The Department of Travel and Tourism Management organized a peer-teaching programme titled “Bharishya 2025” as part of the Peer Teaching – Peer Plus initiative. The programme was designed to provide students with a clear understanding of the fundamentals of research, its logical framework, and its relevance in academic and professional fields. The session was held at MPN Hall and commenced at 10:00 a.m. The resource person, Mr. Muhammed Abdul Shameem TV, delivered an insightful and engaging talk on the concept of research, emphasizing the importance of logical thinking, problem identification, research design, and methodology. He explained various stages of research in a simple and practical manner, making it easy for students to grasp complex ideas. The speaker also highlighted the relevance of research in tourism studies, particularly in understanding industry trends, consumer behaviour, and sustainable development. The peer teaching session was handled by Fathima Nidha T and Ansila P, students of 3RD Semester BTTM, on the topic “Advanced Technologies in the Tourism Industry.” The objective of the session was to enhance collaborative learning and to promote student-led knowledge sharing on emerging trends in tourism.
The presenters explained how technological innovations such as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, and Smart Tourism Systems are revolutionizing the global tourism sector. They also discussed real-world examples of technology integration in hospitality, travel booking, and destination marketing.
The session was highly interactive, with active participation from students who shared their insights and raised questions about the impact of technology on sustainable tourism and customer experience. The discussion helped participants understand the importance of adopting new technologies for improving efficiency and competitiveness in the tourism industry.

The Department of Travel and Tourism Management at GEMS Arts and Science College hosted an insightful expert talk titled "Inquest: a journey in to the logic of research" on October 22, 2025. We were privileged to have Muhammed Abdul Shameem TV as our distinguished speaker. As the Head of the Department of Tourism at CPA College of Global Studies, Puthanathani, Mr. Shameem shared his valuable expertise, guiding students through the logical frameworks and critical thinking required for effective research.

The session was a great success, providing students with practical knowledge and inspiring them to pursue their academic inquiries with rigor.

The Training and Placement Cell in association with the the Department of Travel and Tourism Management,, organized an industry expert session titled “TALKSPHERE – Industry Talk Expert 2K25” on 14th October 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the MPN Hall.
The resource person for the session was Mr. Muhammed Nishad C.P, Centre Head of Skyford Aviation Academy, Calicut. The session focused on the theme “Tourism Today: Trends, Transitions & Tomorrow”, emphasizing the evolving dynamics of the tourism and aviation sectors.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by a faculty member from the department, followed by the introduction of the guest. Mr. Nishad shared valuable insights on current industry trends, the impact of technology on tourism, and the growing career opportunities in the aviation and travel sectors. He also highlighted the importance of skill development and professional grooming for students aspiring to enter the tourism industry.The interactive session allowed students to engage with the speaker, clarifying their doubts and gaining practical knowledge about real-world applications in tourism management. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the speaker for his informative talk and the organizers for their efforts in making the event successful.

The Department of Travel and Tourism Management, in association with the Puzhakkattiri Grama Panchayat, organized an Extension Programme on 25th August 2025 at Paloor Kotta Waterfalls. The programme focused on promoting cleanliness, waste management, and responsible tourism practices at the destination. The event commenced at 10:30 AM with the participation of faculty members, Panchayat representatives, and 32 second-year students of Department of Travel and Tourism Management. As part of the initiative, waste bins were installed and sign boards were placed at prominent locations to remind visitors about proper waste disposal. Students were actively contributed and participated in the event and The Grama Panchayat representatives appreciated the efforts of the department and encouraged more such initiatives in the future. The programme successfully combined community service with practical learning, enabling students to experience the significance of environmental conservation in tourism. The session concluded with positive feedback and suggestions for future collaborations to enhance destination management..

The Department of Travel and Tourism organized a seminar on the topic “Gateway to Airport Careers: Operations, Soft Skills, and Industry Readiness” on 30th June 2025, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, at MP Narayana Menon Hall.
The seminar aimed to provide students with valuable insights into various career opportunities in the aviation sector and the essential skills required to succeed in the industry. The event highlighted the importance of professional grooming, operational knowledge, and industry preparedness.
