The Commerce Club of GEMS Arts & Science College (Autonomous) organized Football Head Challenge 2026 on 11 June 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the college campus. The event aimed to promote sportsmanship, coordination, and student participation through a fun and competitive football activity.Students actively participated in the challenge, demonstrating their football heading skills with great enthusiasm. The competition was conducted according to the prescribed rules, and participants displayed discipline and sportsmanlike spirit throughout the event.Powered by Frypan Kitchen, the programme was a grand success and provided an enjoyable platform for students to showcase their talents. The event concluded with appreciation to all participants, organizers, and supporters for their valuable contributions.

The Department of Management Studies, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a World Environment Day Celebration on 05 June 2026 at 11.00 AM in the college premises under the theme "Leaf a Legacy." The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting environmental awareness and encouraging students to actively participate in activities that contribute to environmental sustainability.
The celebration witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and supporting staff, making it a successful and meaningful initiative. The plantation drive not only beautified the campus but also reinforced the message that every individual can play a vital role in environmental protection.
The World Environment Day Celebration 2026 successfully achieved its objectives and served as a reminder of the collective responsibility to nurture and protect the environment for generations to come.

The Training & Placement Cell organized "Placement Tool and SOP Training – Phase 1" for the teaching Faculty-Placement Coodinators on 1st July 2026 at 3:30 PM in M.P. Narayana Menon Hall. The session was conducted by Mr. Ajay Krishnan, Product Strategist & Technology Leader, MySkillDB.

The programme aimed to familiarize faculty members with the MySkillDB Placement Tool and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for managing placement activities efficiently. The resource person demonstrated the platform's key features, including student registration, profile verification, placement tracking, data management, and faculty responsibilities in the placement process. All the Faculty members were given Login ID and actively participated in the interactive session and clarified their queries regarding platform usage and workflow.

The training enhanced faculty awareness of digital placement management and established a standardized approach to placement activities across departments. It strengthened coordination between the Training & Placement Cell and academic departments while emphasizing the importance of maintaining accurate student records and timely updates. The programme laid a strong foundation for the successful implementation of a technology-driven placement system and prepared faculty members for the advanced phases of training, contributing to a more efficient and transparent placement ecosystem within the institution.

The Department of Computer Science, in association with IQAC, Gems Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized an expert session titled "Crafting a Skillset for Tomorrow's Workforce" on 13 July 2026 at MPN Hall for the third-semester B.Sc. Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence students.
The session was led by Dr. Dhanya K, Chief Operating Officer, Futura Labs Technologies LLP. She shared valuable insights on the essential technical and professional skills required to thrive in today's dynamic job market. The resource person emphasized the importance of continuous learning, communication skills, problem-solving, adaptability, teamwork, and industry readiness in building successful careers.
The interactive session motivated students to identify the competencies expected by employers and encouraged them to continuously upskill to meet future workforce demands. The programme concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students actively interacted with the resource person and clarified their career-related queries.
The programme was well received by the participants and proved to be a valuable initiative in bridging the gap between academics and industry expectations.

The Department of Languages, in association with the Vaikhari Literary
Club and the Reading Empowerment Committee, successfully organized
Vayanavaraghosham 2026 at M. P. Narayana Menon Hall, GEMS Arts and
Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, on 24 June 2026 at 10:00 AM.
The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting reading habits,
encouraging literary appreciation, and fostering a vibrant reading culture among
students.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by M. Jeevesh,
who welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and guests. He
emphasized the significance of reading in shaping knowledge, creativity, and
critical thinking, and highlighted the importance of celebrating
Vayanavaraghosham as a movement to inspire lifelong reading.
The function was presided over by Ms. P. Seethal, Head of the Department of
Languages. In her presidential address, she spoke about the transformative
power of books and the role of educational institutions in nurturing a culture of
reading. She encouraged students to make reading a regular habit and to explore
literature beyond their academic curriculum.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Mr. C. Ganesh, Controller of
Examinations, Malayalam University. In his inaugural address, he
emphasized that reading is the foundation of intellectual growth and lifelong
learning. He encouraged students to cultivate curiosity through books and
explained how reading enhances language skills, creativity, analytical thinking,
and social awareness. He also appreciated the efforts of GEMS Arts and
Science College (Autonomous) in organizing programmes that promote literary
culture among the student community.
The programme was enriched by felicitations delivered by Dr. B. G. Unni,
Academic Director, Dr. Abdussamad V., Vice Principal, Mr. Sandeepan,
and Ms. Asmina. The speakers appreciated the collaborative initiative of the
Department of Languages, Vaikhari Literary Club, and the Reading
Empowerment Committee. They stressed the importance of reading in personal
development, academic excellence, and the preservation of cultural and literary
heritage. They also motivated students to actively participate in literary
activities and make effective use of library resources.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty

Mohammed Irshad K. K., Assistant Professor, Department of Arabic, who

organizing committees, student volunteers, and all participants for their valuable
support and cooperation in making Vayanavaraghosham 2026 a grand success.
He also acknowledged the collective efforts of the Department of Languages,
Vaikhari Literary Club, and the Reading Empowerment Committee in
organizing the event successfully.
Overall, Vayanavaraghosham 2026 was a memorable and inspiring
celebration that successfully highlighted the importance of reading as a lifelong
habit. The programme motivated students to develop a deeper appreciation for

The Department of Computer Applications, organized an Environmental Day Program titled "Green Minds with AI" in connection with World Environment Day on June 5, 2026. The program aimed to raise awareness among students about the role of Artificial Intelligence in addressing pressing environmental challenges. The event encouraged participants to think innovatively and explore how AI-driven solutions can contribute to a greener and more sustainable world.
The theme of the competition was "", which inspired participants to visualize and express their ideas for a greener, more sustainable future through digital art.
The program concluded with a competition among participants. Husna Mehbin emerged as the winner of the event, demonstrating outstanding understanding and creativity in applying AI concepts to environmental problem-solving.
The event was a great success, fostering environmental consciousness and technological thinking among students. The initiative reflected the college's commitment to blending academic excellence with social responsibility.

The PG Department of Social Work, in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Government District Hospital, Perinthalmanna, organized a Flash Mob Awareness Programme at Market City Mall, Perinthalmanna, on 14 June 2026 as part of the observance of World Blood Donor Day. The programme was inaugurated by MLA Najeeb Kanthapuram, who highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation and encouraged the public to participate in this life-saving initiative. Eight students from the department performed a flash mob to raise awareness about blood donation, while other students actively engaged in public awareness activities and programme coordination. An informative talk session was conducted by the staff of the Government District Hospital, Perinthalmanna, focusing on the significance of blood donation, donor eligibility, and the need for maintaining adequate blood reserves. The programme attracted considerable public attention and successfully promoted awareness regarding voluntary blood donation and its role in saving lives.

As part of the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse, GEMS Arts and Science College organized an Awareness Rally and Mime Show with the objective of educating students and the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The programme commenced at 9:30 AM with the participation of students, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and Anti-Drug Cell members. The awareness rally proceeded through the college corridor and prominent areas of Ramapuram Town, carrying placards, slogans, and messages highlighting the importance of staying away from drugs and substance abuse.
A mime show was presented by students to creatively depict the devastating impact of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society. The performance effectively conveyed the message of prevention, awareness, and rehabilitation, attracting the attention of the public and encouraging community participation in the anti-drug campaign.

“Awaken Minds, Reject Drugs” served as a powerful reminder that awareness, education, and community support are key to preventing drug abuse and safeguarding the well-being of society.

The Department of Multimedia, GEMS Arts & Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, organized a Special Care and Mentoring Session for final-year slow learner students on 16 July 2026, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM at the Multimedia Department. The programme was conducted by Mr. Muhammed Binshad K, Head of the Department and Assistant Professor.

The session was specially arranged for students with backlogs in the Third and Fourth Semester University examinations. A total of four students, accompanied by their parents, actively participated in the programme. The session focused on academic awareness, motivation, one-to-one mentoring, discussion of academic challenges, examination preparation strategies, and the importance of parental support. Individual counselling was provided to each student, and personalized academic action plans were prepared to help them improve their performance.

The programme enhanced students’ confidence and motivation to clear their pending examinations. Parents gained a better understanding of their role in supporting their children’s academic progress, while students committed themselves to following the action plans and maintaining regular communication with faculty mentors.

The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Women Development Cell and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a Gender Equity Awareness Program titled "Framing Gender: Representation and Stereotypes in Film and Media" on 6th July 2026 at Room No. 406. The programme was conducted as part of the Student Induction Program 2026–27 to create awareness among first-year Multimedia students about gender representation and responsible media practices.

The session was facilitated by Ms. Ashima Thodengal, Coordinator, Women Development Cell, GEMS ASC, who discussed the portrayal of gender in films, television, advertisements, and digital media. The resource person highlighted how stereotypes influence public perception and emphasized the importance of balanced, inclusive, and ethical representation in media content. Through examples and interactive discussions, students were encouraged to critically examine media narratives and understand the role of media professionals in promoting gender sensitivity.

The programme adopted an interactive approach, enabling students to share their perspectives and engage in meaningful discussions on gender equality and responsible storytelling. The session encouraged participants to appreciate diversity, question stereotypical portrayals, and recognize the social responsibility associated with multimedia production.

The session witnessed the active participation of 37 newly admitted B.A. Multimedia students, who engaged enthusiastically throughout the programme. Overall, the awareness session provided students with a broader understanding of gender-sensitive communication and ethical media practices, laying a strong foundation for responsible and inclusive creative work.
