The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Film Club and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized an Alumni Lecture Series titled "Alumni Connect" on 3rd July 2026 as part of the Student Induction Program 2026–27. The session on "Introduction to VFX – What VFX is and Where It's Used" was delivered by Mr. Al Shab Kottarath, Multimedia Alumnus (2023–26 Batch).

The session introduced first-year students to the fundamentals of Visual Effects (VFX) and its growing significance in the media and entertainment industry. The speaker explained the basic concepts of VFX, its applications in films, television, advertisements, gaming, and digital content creation, while providing examples from contemporary productions. He also shared his academic journey, industry exposure, and learning experiences, offering students valuable insights into the skills and opportunities available in the VFX domain.

The interactive session encouraged students to engage in discussions and clarify their queries regarding software, career pathways, and industry expectations. The alumnus emphasized the importance of creativity, continuous learning, and technical proficiency in building a successful career in visual effects.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 39 newly admitted Multimedia students and served as an inspiring platform for interaction between alumni and juniors. Overall, "Alumni Connect" provided students with a meaningful introduction to the field of VFX while motivating them to explore emerging technologies and career opportunities in the multimedia industry.

The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a Peer Teaching Session titled "Bhavishya: Learn from Leaders" on 3rd July 2026 as part of the Student Induction Program 2026–27. The session focused on "Introduction to Scripting and Screenplay" and was conducted by Ms. Sinja Shiljan and Mr. Abhishek, third-year BA Multimedia students.

The session introduced first-year students to the fundamentals of scriptwriting and screenplay development, covering concepts such as story structure, character creation, scene development, dialogue writing, and screenplay formatting. The speakers also shared their academic experiences and practical insights into the creative process of developing scripts for short films and multimedia productions.

The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to participate in discussions, ask questions, and exchange ideas with their senior peers. Through examples and practical explanations, the presenters highlighted the importance of storytelling as the foundation of filmmaking and digital media production.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 39 newly admitted BA Multimedia students and created a comfortable platform for peer interaction and collaborative learning. Overall, "Bhavishya: Learn from Leaders" provided an engaging introduction to scripting and screenplay writing while strengthening the connection between junior and senior students and inspiring newcomers to explore the creative aspects of multimedia.

The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Nature Club, Photography Club, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized an Environmental Photography & Videography Activity titled "Capture the Nature" on 2nd July 2026 at the GEMS Campus. The activity was conducted as part of the Student Induction Program 2026–27 to encourage first-year Multimedia students to observe, appreciate, and document the natural environment through creative visual storytelling.

The session was led by Mr. Jishnu Narayanan, Assistant Professor, Department of Multimedia, who introduced students to the fundamentals of environmental photography and videography. The resource person explained essential concepts such as composition, framing, lighting, perspective, and visual storytelling while emphasizing ethical practices in nature photography and the importance of environmental awareness through visual media.

The activity provided students with an opportunity to explore the campus surroundings and capture photographs and short video clips that reflected the beauty and diversity of nature. Throughout the session, students experimented with different angles, compositions, and storytelling techniques while receiving practical guidance and feedback from the resource person. The hands-on experience encouraged observation, creativity, and a greater appreciation for using multimedia as a medium for environmental communication.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 41 newly admitted students of BA Multimedia , who actively engaged in the outdoor activity and showcased their creative perspectives through their visual compositions. Overall, "Capture the Nature" offered an enriching learning experience by combining technical photography skills with environmental awareness, encouraging students to develop both creative vision and responsible visual documentation.

The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a Communication Skill Development Program titled "Communion 2K26" on 1st July 2026 at Room No. 406. Conducted as part of the Student Induction Program 2026–27, the session was designed to help first-year Multimedia students develop effective communication skills essential for their academic journey and future professional careers.

The session was led by Ms. Sara Ponni Priya K John, Assistant Professor, Department of Multimedia, who discussed the importance of communication in creative industries and collaborative work environments. The program covered topics such as verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, public speaking, presentation techniques, professional etiquette, and interpersonal skills. Through practical examples and interactive activities, students were introduced to effective methods of expressing ideas with confidence and clarity.

The session encouraged active participation through group discussions, communication exercises, and team-based activities. These activities provided students with opportunities to interact with their peers, share their perspectives, and improve their confidence in speaking before an audience. The resource person also highlighted the significance of communication in portfolio presentations, client interactions, interviews, and workplace collaboration.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from 40 students of first year BA Multimedia, who engaged actively throughout the session. The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Film Club and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a Workshop on Acting for Screen and Stage titled "Lights, Camera, Perform!" on 1st July 2026 at Room No. 203. The workshop was conducted as part of the Student Induction Program 2026–27 to introduce first-year Multimedia students to the fundamentals of acting and performance, highlighting their significance in filmmaking and visual storytelling.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Mohamed Masood K K, Assistant Professor, Department of Multimedia, who shared practical insights into the essentials of screen and stage performance. The workshop covered key aspects of acting, including body language, facial expressions, voice modulation, character interpretation, stage presence, and camera awareness. Students were also introduced to the differences between stage acting and screen acting, along with techniques for delivering natural and expressive performances.

The workshop followed an interactive and practice-oriented approach, encouraging students to participate in role-playing exercises, improvisation activities, and performance demonstrations. Through these activities, participants explored different methods of character expression while gaining confidence in performing before an audience and the camera. The resource person also emphasized the importance of observation, creativity, and emotional expression in developing effective performance skills.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from 40 students of first year BA Multimedia, who engaged actively in the practical exercises and discussions. It offered them an opportunity to experience the fundamentals of acting in a supportive learning environment while appreciating its role in multimedia production. Overall, "Lights, Camera, Perform!" was an engaging and enriching workshop that encouraged creative expression, strengthened performance skills, and provided students with a valuable introduction to acting for screen and stage.

The 17th Chairman’s Lecture Series was held at Prem Nazir Audio Visual Theatre at 10.30 AM onwards on 11th July 2026. The 17thChairman’s Lecture Series organized by IQAC GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous) jointly with the Society of Biological Chemist -North East Chapter via hybrid mode .. The lecture was delivered by an eminent personality, Prof. (Dr.) Anandakuttan B Unnithan, Professor, Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, on “Responsible Corporate Leadership”. The program commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Naveen Mohan, Principal of the college.

Soon after the welcome speech, the session was led by Shri. Manjalamkuzhi Ali, Honorable Chairman, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous). He briefly explained the progress and achievements of the institution for the last few years.  After

his speech, Dr. Balagopalan Unni, Academic and Research Director, presented a brief introduction about the Chairman’s Lecture Series, as the best platform introduced for the students and faculties of the College. He also mentioned the previous lectures led by the reputed personalities from within Kerala outside Kerala and abroad as well. Dr. Unni introducd briefly about the distinguished chief guest of the day.

The rapid growth of technology has redefined business models and leadership approaches, said Dr. Anandakuttan B. Unnithan, a management expert and professor at IIM Kozhikode. He was speaking on 'Responsible Corporate Leadership' as part of the Chairman's Lecture Series at GEMS Arts and Science College.Technology has led to radical changes in the social, economic and industrial sectors of the world. A great idea grows into a successful business venture when it is combined with the needs of society. He said that business should be a system that includes social responsibility along with the elements of service, investment and profit. He pointed out that society needs leadership that can find responsible and far-sighted solutions to the challenges posed by the global economy, and that irresponsible decisions and leadership will jeopardize the credibility and very survival of institutions. He said that leadership is formed from a clear sense of purpose and value-based actions, and that the responsible corporate leadership of the future should be shaped by the young generation that can integrate technology, innovation, and social commitment He added that it is the necessity of the times to change the aversion to job opportunities and develop skills and an entrepreneurial spirit. The speaker provides a comprehensive explanation on how business and technologies provide better quality of living, its role in corporate leadership with Patagonia as instance. Throughout the discussion, how shareholders and stakeholders are important in business has been criticized in detail. The speaker highlighted how CSR addresses global challenges and how innovation in business and technology can contribute to sustainable development

. He also discussed landmark regulations that have strengthened corporate governance and responsible business practices. Dr. Anandakuttan illustrated the impact of responsible and irresponsible leadership and cited examples such as Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet forresponsible leadership and innovation, while discussing leadership failures in various companies to demonstrate the consequences of unethical business practices due to irresponsible leadership. He concluded with the message that responsible leadership is no longer optional but an essential requirement for the success of the organization. Following his speech, there was an interactive session with students and faculties of the institution. Vasudevan Master, Vice Chairman delivered the felicitation speech. The lecture was attended by the faculties of GEMS college, and also provided facilities (In hybrid mode) for the persons attending from other parts of the Kertala.. The program was concluded with a vote of gratitude by Ms, Ranjusha VP, Director-IQAC, GEMS Arts and Science College 

The Department of Sociology, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, organized a programme titled "A Letter to Earth" on the occasion of World Environment Day. The event was conducted on 5 June 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in Room No. 701.
The programme aimed to create awareness about environmental conservation and encourage students to express their love, gratitude, and responsibility towards Mother Earth through creative letter writing. Students enthusiastically participated by writing heartfelt letters highlighting the importance of protecting nature, reducing pollution, conserving natural resources, and ensuring a sustainable future for coming generations.
The programme began with a brief introduction to the significance of World Environment Day and the need for environmental protection. Participants shared thoughtful ideas and pledged to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives. The activity inspired students to reflect on the relationship between humans and nature and emphasized the collective responsibility of safeguarding the environment.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the active participation of the students and the efforts of the Department of Sociology in organizing a meaningful programme. Overall, "A Letter to Earth" was an inspiring and successful initiative that promoted environmental awareness and social responsibility among students.
