The Department of Travel and Tourism Management, in collaboration with the Tourism Club, organized a successful National Tourism Day program on January 29, 2025, at the rooftop auditorium of Gems Arts and Science College, Ramapuram. The event was doubly significant as it also marked the inauguration of the college's Tourism Association. The program featured a diverse range of activities, including informative sessions, interactive competitions, cultural performances, and engaging entertainment, attracting a wide audience of students and faculty.
The day commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Latheef Aslam, Assistant Professor in the Department, setting the stage for the day's events. Following this, Ms. Arathy P Rajan, HOD of the Department, delivered the presidential address, highlighting the importance of tourism and the role of the newly formed association. Mr. Sony C P, also an Assistant Professor in the Department, then felicitated the attendees. The highlight of the morning session was the official inauguration of the Tourism Association by Mr. Hamidali Vaxhakkad, a distinguished writer, traveler, and environmentalist. Mr. Vaxhakkad also delivered an inspiring inaugural address, emphasizing the connection between travel, culture, and environmental consciousness. The morning session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Abdrahiman Jasir.
Adding an element of friendly competition, "Udanpanam," a quiz program, was conducted for students from various departments. This interactive session tested their knowledge of tourism and related subjects, fostering a spirit of learning and engagement.
The afternoon session shifted its focus to the future of tourism with a presentation by Dr. Shahid Cholayil, Chairman of Mission 3G. Dr. Cholayil’s insightful talk on the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) provided a glimpse into the potential impact of technology on the tourism sector.
The program then showcased the artistic talents of the students with a vibrant dance performance, adding a cultural dimension to the celebration. The day culminated in an entertaining musical program featuring performances by Irshad Mudikkode, Haseeb NBR, and Abhi Violin, providing a perfect blend of melody and rhythm to conclude the day's festivities.
The combined celebration of Tourism Day and the Tourism Association inauguration proved to be a resounding success. The event effectively combined informative sessions with engaging entertainment, catering to a diverse audience. It provided a valuable platform for students to learn, interact, and celebrate the spirit of travel and exploration, while also marking the beginning of the Tourism Association's activities within the college. The program successfully highlighted the importance of tourism in the modern world and the potential of the newly formed association to contribute to its growth and development.

An MoU between INTI International University Malaysia  with GEMS Arts & Science College, Malappuram, Kerala was signed today on 22nd April 2025 at the college premises. The important event attended by  Prof. Dr. Shamsul Nahar Abdullah,Prof.Wong Ling Shing (Pro Vice chancellors),  Shri .K Kumeresan Krishnasamy Assistant Manager, International Relations and Collaborations Centre INTI University Malaysia  and Shri Manjalamkuzhi Ali  Chairman,Shri M.Vasudevan  vice chairman, Dr.Balagopalan Unni, Director Academic & research , Dr.Naveen Mohan,Principal, Shri Mohammed Navas K Vice Principal , Dr.Finose  IQAC coordinator Members of the board and other faculties of the  GEMS college ​ atten​ded  the ​online  MoU signing meeting​ .         The meeting was initiated by the coordinator of NITI International university with a brief introduction followed by the video profile of the both the organization to present their facilities .Brief remarks regarding the importance of the MoU, and how it will be benefited to both the institutions were very well briefed by the Pro vice Chancellor of NITI International University Malaysia and Chairman of GEMS Arts & Science college respectively at the meeting . .The programs and the activities to be undertaken by both the institutions are as follows : Student mobility and visiting scholar programs; ,Academic programs collaborations; ,Joint publication and research activities; Exchange of academic materials and other information;(Genetic materials as per the rules of Government of India and the Government of Malaysia), Establishment of International Centre at their respective campus, Scholarly activities such as courses, seminars, trainings, conferences, and symposiums organized by either of the Parties and ​other activities were in brief explained by the pro vice chancellor of the university, Malaysia. The term for partnership between the two institutions shall be​ for  five (5) years from the date  of signing the  MOU. ​ This is the first MoU GEMS Arts & Science college is ​signing with one of the world ranking universities of Malaysia. College is already collaborating with ​ another world ranking university, UCSI University Malaysia  Such collaboration with international universities will certainly improve the quality of the education system​ in both academic & research fronts  at a very high level​, and will also be benefitted to both the institutions,

The Department of Biotechnology  Govt of India approved and sanctioned a project entitled  - ​"Popular Lectures in biotechnology​" by Experts for popularization of biotechnology for financial assistance from Institutions / Universities which are actively working in the research area of Biotechnology. The Popular Lectures in biotechnology by experts will be  organized for students from schools, colleges, universities & also for the general public to bring general awareness among them about the basic concepts, recent advances & potential of modern Biology & Biotechnology. 

           This lecture series being the most innovative event, aims to provide an open and stimulating scientific exchange that will give all the participants a good opportunity to share their experiences, Foster collaboration across industry and academia and evaluate emerging technologies in various aspect of biology and Biotechnology​.The college will be organizing a series of three lectures in this  financial year, two by external experts and one by an internal expert. Out of the three lectures ,at least one lecture will be organized  in the local language​(Malayalam​) mentioned by the Director Academic & Research of the college.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Between INTI International University, Malaysia & GEMS Arts & Science College, Kerala, India

We are proud to announce the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between INTI International University, Malaysia and GEMS Arts & Science College, Kerala, India. This partnership aims to foster academic collaboration, research initiatives, and exchange programs between the two institutions.

The MoU signing ceremony will be held in hybrid mode on 22nd April 2025 at 10:00 AM IST / 12:30 PM MST at the IQAC Chamber, GEMS ASC, Malappuram, Kerala.

Key dignitaries from both institutions will be part of this significant event, marking the beginning of a fruitful academic journey together.

The PG Department of English Language and Literature of GEMS Arts and Science College conducted a IPR titled " A SEMINAR ON:-THE ROLE OF IPR IN PROMOTING INNOVATION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH " at MP Narayana Menon Hall on 28 march 2025 at 10.30 AM. The class was handled by Mrs. Anitha Parveen J, Head of PG Department of Social work. The Intellectual Property Right (IPR) workshop was organized with the aim of
spreading awareness about the significance of intellectual property rights in today's rapidly evolving knowledge economy. The workshop provided insights into various aspects of IPR, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, highlighting their importance in protecting innovation and fostering creativity. This programme educates participants about the basics of Intellectual Property Rights. It discusses the processes involved in applying for and
protecting IPR. The programmer also enhance awareness about the different types of intellectual property, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and geographical indications. The resource person provides practical knowledge on how to safeguard intellectual property in the global context. Total of 57 students from both BA and MA English participated in the programme.
