The Mentor-Mentee Meet for the academic year 2025 was organized at GEMS Arts and Science College, Ramapuram, on 13th February 2025. The primary objective of the meeting was to facilitate a productive interaction between the faculty mentors and their respective mentees. This interaction was designed to strengthen the mentor-mentee relationship, discuss academic progress, address student concerns, and provide guidance for personal and professional growth. The meeting was scheduled from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Each mentor met individually with their assigned mentees in a conducive and supportive environment. The session provided a platform for one-on-one discussions, where mentors could offer insights into academic performance, career planning, and personal development.

Mentors provided valuable guidance on setting short-term and long-term academic goals. They encouraged mentees to stay focused and motivated, while also sharing tips for time management, effective study strategies, and ways to cope with stress. At the end of the meeting, mentees were given an opportunity to ask any questions or express concerns about their academic journey or college life. Mentors addressed these queries with practical advice. Both mentors and mentees expressed satisfaction with the session. Mentors appreciated the opportunity to connect with their students on a deeper level, while mentees felt supported and motivated to improve their academic performance and personal growth.

The Mentor-Mentee Meet held on 13th February 2025 at GEMS Arts and Science College, Ramapuram, proved to be a valuable session for both students and faculty. The Department of Languages, Malayalam Department, organized “Mathrubhasha Dinam” on February 21, 2025, at the Moyinkutty Vaidyar Auditorium. The event, which began at 10 a.m., was inaugurated by writer, actor, and assistant professor Dr. Hikmathulla V. In his inaugural address, Dr. Hikmathulla emphasized the importance of one’s mother tongue in preserving cultural identity and fostering intellectual growth. He highlighted how language serves as a bridge between generations and plays a crucial role in shaping individual and collective consciousness.

Ms. Seethal, the Head of the Malayalam Department, delivered the presidential address, expressing her appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members. The event was further enriched by felicitations from esteemed faculty members, including Jeevesh M, Assistant Professor in the Malayalam Department; Mr. Rihas, Assistant Professor in the English Department; and Mr. Sandeepan, Head of the Department of Management Studies. They spoke about the significance of linguistic diversity and the necessity of promoting the mother tongue in academic and cultural spaces.

Adding to the vibrancy of the occasion, students organized various cultural programs that celebrated the richness of the Malayalam language and heritage. Performances included traditional songs, poetry recitations, and skits that reflected the beauty and depth of Malayalam literature. The event successfully reinforced the importance of language in shaping identity and encouraged students to take pride in their mother tongue.

The Alumni Lecture Series 3, held on 20th February 2025 from 3:30pm to 4:30 pm at Room No 901(MSW Class room ), GEMS ASC, featured a session on “Exploring Career Horizons: Opportunities for Social Workers” by resource person Jishana K, Community Women Facilitator, Life Skill Trainer, Conciliation Officer RDO Perinthalmanna and Founder of Maxford Education Centre. The event, organized by PG Department of Social Work, GEMS Arts and Science college, Ramapuram.

Ms. Jishana K delivered an engaging and informative lecture, highlighting the diverse career opportunities available to social workers. She emphasized the importance of social workers in addressing the complex social issues of our time.

The lecture was well-received by the audience, comprising students and faculty members, The feedback and evaluation forms indicated that the lecture was informative, engaging, and relevant to the field of social work. The participants appreciated Ms. Jishana K’s expertise and her ability to share practical insights and examples.

The Alumni Lecture Series 3 was a resounding success, providing a platform for students, faculty members, and alumni to engage with a renowned expert in the field of social work. The lecture not only explored career horizons but also inspired and motivated the audience to pursue their passions in social work. We look forward to organizing more such events in the future.

Let's unite for equality, justice, and fairness by embracing compassion, empathy, and understanding

The Autonomous Committee visited GEMS Arts and Science College on 14th February 2025 (Friday) to assess the institution’s academic and administrative standards. The peer team comprised Sri. T N Martin (Convenor and Syndicate Member), Dr. Rasheed Ahamad P (Syndicate Member), Dr. Richard Scaria (Syndicate Member), Dr. C C Harilal (Dean, Faculty of Science), and Dr. P Shivadasan (Dean, Faculty of Humanities). The visit focused on evaluating the college’s curriculum, governance, faculty, student development initiatives, and infrastructure. The committee interacted with faculty, students, and management to understand institutional progress and future plans. Their assessment aimed at strengthening academic autonomy, ensuring quality education, and fostering institutional excellence. The visit marked a significant step toward the college’s pursuit of academic self-governance.

On February 7th, The Department of Social Work successfully conducted its professional program, Viventia, which served as a platform for engaging discussions and insights on contemporary social work practices. The program was attended by esteemed faculty, students, and distinguished guests.
The event commenced with a warm and inspiring welcome address by Ms. Anitha Praveen, Head of the Department of Social Work. She highlighted the importance of professional engagements and collaborative learning in the field of social work.
Ms. Pooja Jayaraj, Assistant Professor, presented a comprehensive report on the department’s recent activities, achievements, and future initiatives. Her report reflected the department’s commitment to academic excellence and social outreach.
The official launch of the Viventia logo was performed by Mr. Sameer Machingal, Principal, who emphasized the importance of visual identity in representing the department’s mission and vision. Mr. Muhammed Murshid AP introduced the esteemed guests and highlighted their contributions to the field of education and social service.
The program was formally inaugurated by Mr. Sameer Machingal, District Social Justice Officer, Malappuram. In his inaugural address, he spoke on the evolving role of social work professionals in addressing societal challenges and creating positive change. Ms. Smitha, Librarian, emphasized the importance of information resources in shaping socially responsible professionals.
Mr. Anas Tharakan, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, congratulated the department for organizing the event and encouraged students to pursue knowledge and compassion in their professional journey. Mr. Jiji, Head of the Department of Physical Education, highlighted the importance of physical and mental well-being in the social work profession.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Varsha, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and support staff for their valuable contributions to the success of Viventia.
The Department of Social Work's Association Inauguration Day featured a session on "Mental Health: Enlightenment and Empowerment" led by Hifzul Rahman, a para-psychologist. Mr. Anas Tharakan, Assistant Professor of Social Work, delivered the welcome address. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Anjana, a first-year MSW student, promoting mental health awareness and empowerment.

The Anti-Drug Cell of GEMS Arts and Science College, in association with the MSW Department, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Program on 29th January 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Research Cell. The objective of the program was to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The session was handled by Ms. Gadha M. Das, District Coordinator of Vimukthi, a government initiative for substance abuse prevention. She addressed the audience with an engaging and informative talk, shedding light on the rising issue of drug addiction among youth and the steps that can be taken to prevent
The program was successful in spreading awareness about the perils of substance abuse and motivating the participants to adopt a drug-free lifestyle. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by IRSHAD P, ANTI-DRUG CELL Coordinator expressing gratitude to Ms. Gadha M. Das, the organizing team, and all the participants for their contribution in making the event a meaningful experience.

The Department of Multimedia at GEMS Arts and Science College successfully conducted the Association Inauguration for the 2024-25 academic year on 07/02/2025 (Friday) at 10:00 AM in MP Narayana Menon Hall. The event was graced by Mr. Prathap Joseph, a renowned film director, cinematographer, and journalist, as the chief guest. The main session focused on ”The Director’s Lens: Research Methodology in Cinematic Studies.”

The program commenced with a welcome speech by Assistant Professor Mr. Sanad Sudhakaran, followed by the presidential address delivered by Mr. Mohammed Binshad K., HoD of the Department of Multimedia. Distinguished guests, including Principal Dr. Naveen Mohan** and **Assistant Professors Suhailudheen, Smitha Pramod, Jiji John, and Sandipan K.M delivered their felicitation addresses, highlighting the significance of research in cinematic studies.

The event saw the enthusiastic participation of **Lab Assistant Nisha V.T. and 65 students**, making it a remarkable success in fostering academic and creative excellence in multimedia studies.

On 13th December 2024, RAise Up AcadeME hosted a highly informative and engaging training session on "AI-Powered Job Search Mastery" at the MP Narayana Menon Hall in GEMS Arts and Science College. This session was designed specifically for the final-year students of Computer Science (CS) and Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) to help them navigate the modern job search landscape using Artificial Intelligence (AI). The session aimed to empower students with the tools and knowledge necessary to enhance their job search and career advancement by incorporating AI into the process is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how AI is revolutionizing the job search process and to introduce students to AI-based tools and platforms that can help them in finding jobs, optimizing resumes, and preparing for interviews. The session was structured into various segments that combined both theoretical concepts and hands-on demonstrations to help students understand the real-world application of AI in job searches. The first part of the session provided students with an introduction to AI’s role in job searching. Topics covered included, AI in recruitment, personalized job recommendations, AI-powered resume screening & Role of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Students were introduced to a range of AI-powered tools and platforms that are essential for job seekers. One of the key highlights of the session was a practical demonstration on how AI can help optimize resumes and cover letters. The trainer explained how AI-driven ATS systems are used by companies to automatically screen resumes. Students were shown how to use AI tools to ensure their resumes are optimized with the right keywords and formatting to pass through these systems. The session was highly interactive, with a significant focus on practical learning. Students were eager to explore the different AI tools presented during the training and were actively engaged in the Q&A sessions. Several students expressed interest in learning more about how AI can be used beyond job searches, including for career development and ongoing learning. The feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive. Many students found the session to be extremely useful, with practical insights that they could immediately apply to their job search strategies. The "AI-Powered Job Search Mastery" training session was a valuable experience for the final-year CS and BCA students of GEMS Arts and Science College.

The Computer Science Department Association Inauguration for the academic year 2025 was held on 29th January 2025, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The event witnessed a vibrant gathering of students, faculty, and special guests, marking a new beginning for the association’s activities. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Mohammed Shamil PN, representing Bridgeon Solutions and launch association name and logo “TECH TREK” and was followed by several engaging sessions, including a special address, technical session, and cultural activities. The Program Coordinator for the event was Ms. Shahna C, Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department. The day began with a grand inauguration at 9:30 AM, with a warm welcome extended to all attendees. The inaugural ceremony began with a Welcome Speech delivered by Hafsheen Abdul Razak, a second-year Computer Science student, who expressed gratitude to all faculty, students, and guests for their presence and support in making the event possible. Hafsheen highlighted the importance of fostering a sense of community and innovation within the Computer Science Department. Following the welcome address, Mr. Anoos Babu Sir, Head of the Computer Science Department, delivered the Presidential Address. In his speech, Mr. Anoos Babu emphasized the role of student associations in bridging the gap between academics and industry, encouraging students to make the most of the opportunities provided by the association for both academic and personal growth. He also stressed the importance of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning in the ever-evolving field of computer science. The next segment of the inauguration was the Felicitation Ceremony, where the students and faculty members were honored for their contributions. The felicitation was done by Ms. Shahna C, Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department, Ms. Priyanka P M, Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department and Ms. Soumya P S, Assistant Professor, Computer Science Department. Each of them expressed their gratitude towards the association and encouraged students to actively participate in future events. They shared their perspectives on the importance of professional development, industry engagement, and the need to build a strong foundation for a successful career in the tech industry.
The highlight of the inaugural event was the Technical Session conducted by Mr. Mohammed Shamil PN from Bridgeon Solutions, on the topic, "Elevate Your IT Career." Mr. Shamil, a seasoned industry professional, engaged the students with insightful discussions on building a successful career in Information Technology. At the end of the morning session, the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ahammed Ansar K T, a student from the Computer Science Department, who extended heartfelt thanks to all the dignitaries, speakers, faculty members, students, and participants for their contributions towards making the inauguration a successful event. After a productive morning, the event transitioned to the afternoon session, which included Cultural Activities and Gaming Sessions. The students participated enthusiastically in various cultural programs that showcased their talent, including dance, music, and drama performances. The cultural session brought an element of fun and creativity to the event, giving students a platform to express themselves beyond academics.
In parallel, the Gaming Sessions were held, where students competed in various online and offline gaming challenges. The gaming session fostered team spirit, excitement, and friendly competition among the students, making it an enjoyable experience for all participants.
