The PG Department of Microbiology, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, organized MICROVISTA 2K26 on 19th January 2026 at the Research Centre, marking the inauguration of the Department Association and MBSI Students Unit. The programme aimed to enhance academic excellence, leadership, and professional development.
The event began with a prayer by Ms. Salma Fidha OM, followed by the welcome address by Ms. Resna N K, Assistant Professor and Head, PG Department of Microbiology. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Naveen Mohan, Principal, GEMS ASC, highlighting the role of student associations in holistic growth.
Felicitation addresses were given by Dr. Abdussamed V, Mr. Rihas K T and Dr. Finose A. The Chief Guest, Dr. Vimal K P, delivered the inaugural address emphasizing research and societal relevance. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Fathima Nidha P and a Buttermilk Campaign promoting public health.

The Women Development Cell (WDC) and PG Department of English Language and Literature of GEMS Arts and Science College Autonomous successfully organized a program on 23rd January 2026 at MP Narayana Menon Hall to raise awareness. The quiz program was designed for the 'Njangalum Collegilekku' batch. This batch, an initiative by the Honorable MLA to encourage women to resume their higher education, participated enthusiastically in the event aimed at fostering legal and social awareness.
The centerpiece of the session was a six-level awareness quiz focusing on three core themes: Girl Child Rights, Government Policies and Rules, and General Knowledge related to women's empowerment. This interactive platform effectively educated participants on important legal protections and various welfare schemes, while the competitive yet supportive atmosphere encouraged them to engage deeply with the subject matter. To recognize the efforts of the participants, Mr. Vasudevan Master, Vice Chairman of GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), distributed awards to the best performers, Ms. Muhsina P ( 3rd Sem BA Sociology) and Nihma Farsana PK ( 1st Sem BA English Language and Literature) after which the participants shared valuable feedback on their experience. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Basima, faculty member and Assistant Coordinator of the 'Njangalum Collegilekku' batch.

The outcomes of the program were closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16). By addressing themes like girl child rights and legal policies, the event successfully sensitized the participants about the protective laws and welfare schemes available to them. This awareness empowered these women to navigate their academic and social lives with greater confidence and legal literacy, ultimately fostering a culture of informed action and reinforcing the institution's commitment to inclusive education and social justice.

On January 14, 2026, the Department of Computer Applications at GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous) organized an insightful session titled "AMU Admission Roadmap: Mastering CUET, Career Development" at the MPN Hall. The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Sandhya Balakrishnan,who set a positive tone for the event and introduced the distinguished guests. The primary focus of the session was to guide students through the admission complexities of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and the strategic preparation required for the CUET examination.
The keynote speakers, Mr. Shihabudheen, Admission Officer at AMU Perinthalmanna, and Dr. Fahid KV, Assistant Professor and Career Coach, shared expert advice on navigating entrance protocols and aligning academic goals with professional career development. Their insights provided the students with a clear and practical roadmap for their future academic pursuits. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Fathima Safa (S6 BCA),who expressed gratitude to the speakers for their valuable time and to the department for organizing such a beneficial session. The event successfully empowered the participants with the knowledge and confidence needed to excel in competitive admissions.

On January 15, 2026, the first-year MSW students of the PG Department of Social Work of GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, took an active role in a fundraising and awareness programme initiative as part of Palliative Care Day. The event, organised in collaboration with the Palliative Clinic, Kadungapuram, aimed to raise funds and spread awareness about the vital role of palliative care in the community.Total 16 number of students were participated and they were divided into groups and assigned to various strategic locations across Ramapuram, Padapparambu, and Kadungapuram. At each location, they interacted with the public by clearly explaining the purpose of the campaign and encouraging voluntary contributions. The activity commenced at 9:30 AM and continued until 4:00 PM, with students actively engaged throughout the programme. The efforts of the students resulted in the collection of a substantial amount of ₹35,000, which was handed over to the Palliative Clinic, Kadungapuram, to support its services. The programme received positive responses and active cooperation from the local community, thereby making the initiative a commendable

The Department of Multimedia, in association with Adontic Technologies and Adontic School, organized a Skill Development Program titled “Big Dreams Start with a Single Pixel” on 13th January 2025 at the MPN Hall. The program was conducted with the objective of equipping students with industry-oriented knowledge and professional skills required in the field of graphic design and multimedia.

The session was mentored by Mr. Muhammad Suneesh, Founder & Creative Director, who served as the resource person for the program. He delivered an engaging and practical session focusing on real-world design practices and career development in the creative industry. The session covered topics such as approaching design work professionally, finding and handling clients, pricing and quoting design projects, understanding industry workflows, and building confidence in client interactions.

The resource person also highlighted the smart use of AI tools in UI/UX and graphic design, current job and freelance opportunities across design domains, and the transition from a designer to an entrepreneur. The session provided valuable insights into industry expectations and emerging trends in the design field.

88 students from all three batches of BA Multimedia  actively participated in the program and interacted with the resource person by raising questions related to freelancing, career growth, and professional challenges. The session was highly informative, motivating, and beneficial in enhancing students’ industry readiness.

Overall, the program was successful in inspiring students to think creatively, work professionally, and explore entrepreneurial opportunities in the multimedia and design industry.

The Department of Multimedia has signed an academic linkage with Westberg International Academy, Calicut, aimed at fostering collaboration in academic projects, student internships, training programs, faculty exchange, and research initiatives. This partnership is expected to enhance industry exposure and academic excellence for both students and faculty members. The official linkage certificate was formally handed over to the College Principal, marking the beginning of a mutually beneficial academic collaboration.

All staff members of the Department of Multimedia are attending a Two-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Multicamera Production, Virtual Reality, and Cinematography, conducted in association with Sony.
The program aims to enhance technical expertise and industry-oriented skills in advanced media production technologies

The Department of Multimedia, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a One-Day Certificate Program on Applied Multimedia Skills as an extension activity aimed at empowering Plus Two students of Kerala by providing exposure to professional multimedia education and career opportunities beyond the regular curriculum.

The primary objective of the extension activity was to bridge the gap between school-level education and industry-oriented multimedia practices. The program focused on introducing students to creative domains such as script development, photography, videography, graphic designing, video editing, AR & VR technologies, and audio-visual production.

The activity began with interactive workshops on Basics of Script Development and Photography & Videography, enabling students to understand storytelling, visual composition, and camera handling. This was followed by sessions on Graphic Designing and Video Editing, where participants were introduced to industry-standard tools and workflows.

As part of experiential learning, students were taken on a departmental tour, which included visits to the Video Studio, Dubbing Studio, AR & VR Lab, and Audio Visual Theatre. This hands-on exposure helped participants gain real-time insight into professional multimedia environments and production processes.

Competitions were conducted to encourage creativity and active participation among students. Winners were recognized during the closing ceremony, and certificates of participation were distributed to all 59 participants. Lunch and learning materials were provided as part of the extension initiative. 

The extension activity successfully created awareness about multimedia education, creative careers, and emerging technologies. It also strengthened the institution’s outreach efforts by engaging school students and motivating them to pursue higher studies and skill development in the field of multimedia.

GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, is hosting the inauguration of the Centre for Applied AI & Semi Conductor Lab on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 2:30 PM. The event will be inaugurated by Shri. V R Vinod IAS, the Malappuram District Collector, and presided over by Shri. Manjalamkuzhi Ali MLA. This initiative is powered by MiPhi (Powered by Phison) in collaboration with project partner Hyper Cognitive.
