The Department of Management Studies, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a special academic session titled “Master Research Through an Impactful Project” on 17th December 2025 at MP Narayana Menon Hall, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The program commenced with a welcome and introductory address by Mr. Sandeepan, Assistant Professor, Head of the Department of Management Studies. In his address, he emphasized the significance of research-oriented learning in management education and highlighted how impactful research projects contribute to students’ academic growth and professional development. He also introduced the Resource person to the gathering.
The session was handled by Dr. Vinod V. M., Calicut University Librarian & Head, Research Desk (Retd.), who delivered an informative and engaging talk on the essentials of conducting meaningful research. He discussed topic selection, research methodology, literature review, and the importance of originality and ethics in research. The session was interactive, with students actively participating in the discussion.
The programme witnessed active participation from second-year and final-year students of the Department of Management Studies. The session was made interactive through a question-and-answer segment, during which students clarified their doubts and gained practical guidance on project planning and execution.
The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Naveen Mohan, Principal, and Dr. Finos A., IQAC Director, Dr. Nayana (Assistant Professor & Research Officer), whose presence added value and encouragement to the academic initiative.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Semeena Mol, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies. She expressed sincere gratitude to the Resource person, dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active involvement and support in making the programme a meaningful success.
The program concluded as scheduled with positive feedback from participants, making the session a valuable learning experience for aspiring researchers.

The PG Department of General Biotechnology, GEMS Arts and Science College, organized “ZOONOSIA – The Awareness Program” on 6th August 2025 at the Research & Innovation Centre. The program aimed to create awareness about zoonotic diseases, their prevention, and public health importance.A short and informative video on zoonotic diseases prepared by S3 BSc Biotechnology students was presented. The new Department Logo was officially launched by the Chief Guest marking a significant milestone for the department. The keynote address was delivered by the Chief Guest Dr. Waseem Mirsab P T (BVSc & AH, MVSc – Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology), Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Dispensary, Oorakam. He emphasized the need for awareness about zoonotic infections

The Student Seminar Series was successfully conducted on Friday, 24th October 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Research and Innovation Centre. The program was organized by the Research Cell in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) with the objective of promoting research culture, academic engagement, and skill development among students. The seminar featured two student presentations from different disciplines, highlighting interdisciplinary learning and knowledge exchange.
The first presentation was delivered by Ms. Haneena M, S3 MSc Biotechnology, from the PG Department of General Biotechnology. Her talk, titled “Unveiling the Skin Microbiome for Cosmetic Applications through Metagenomics,” focused on the role of skin microbiota in cosmetic science and the application of metagenomic approaches to study microbial diversity.

The second presentation was given by Ms. Fathimma Fidha, S3 BBA, from the Department of Management Studies. Her topic, “Time Management for Business Students,” highlighted effective strategies for managing academic and professional responsibilities.

She delivered an informative talk on the topic “Nanochemistry – Tiny Tools for Tackling Pollution.” The presentation highlighted the principles of nanochemistry and its emerging applications in environmental pollution control

The Department of Computer Science, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, organized a Networking Bootcamp on 8th December 2025 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Computer Science Lab. The session was conducted as part of the department’s continuous efforts to enhance students' technical knowledge and practical exposure to emerging technologies. The resource person for the bootcamp was Ms. Shibla Shereen, Academic Head at Leads Network Academy. She is an experienced trainer in the field of computer networking and is widely recognized for her expertise in hands-on network configuration, cybersecurity fundamentals, and industry-based networking practices. The session began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction of the resource person. During the bootcamp, the students were given insights into the fundamentals of computer networks, configuration of network devices, routing and switching concepts, and the importance of networking certifications such as CCNA. The resource person also demonstrated practical networking tools and real-world applications, making the session highly interactive and informative. The program provided students with valuable learning experiences, especially for those aspiring to build a career in networking and cybersecurity domains. The participants actively engaged in the session and clarified their doubts regarding certification paths, job roles, and skill requirements in the networking field. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management, IQAC, the Department of Computer Science, and the resource person for making the program informative and successful. The Networking Bootcamp served as an enriching platform for students to gain practical knowledge and understanding of networking concepts relevant to current industry standards.

The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) of GEMS Arts & Science College (Autonomous) organized a Three-Day Voting Awareness Campaign from 8th to 10th December 2025 in connection with the Kerala Local Body Election 2025, under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative. The programme aimed to create awareness among students and the nearby community about the importance of voting, democratic rights, and responsible citizenship, with special focus on motivating young and first-time voters to actively participate in the electoral process.
The campaign began with a Digital Poster Display on 8th December 2025 through the college digital display system under the theme “Your Vote, Your Power.” This was followed on 9th December 2025 by awareness talks delivered by student volunteers at GEMS Arts & Science College and as an outreach programme at Puzhakkattiri Panchayath, highlighting the significance of local body elections and the role of citizens in strengthening democracy. On the final day, a “Pledge to Vote” initiative with a Selfie Point was organized on campus, where students actively took a pledge to cast their vote responsibly in the upcoming election.
The programme was successfully conducted with the active support of 10 NSS volunteers, who assisted the Electoral Literacy Club in organizing and coordinating all activities. The volunteers played a vital role in mobilizing participants, conducting awareness sessions, supporting outreach activities, and ensuring smooth execution of the programme. Overall, the campaign effectively enhanced electoral awareness, encouraged civic responsibility, and reinforced democratic values among students and members of the local community.

The Department of Computer Science at GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous) organized a seminar titled “Higher Education and Career Opportunities” on 5th December 2025. The session was
conducted in association with KC Overseas Education, a reputed international education consultancy. The resource person for the seminar was Ms. Narmadha Nishad, Director of KC Overseas Education, who served as the keynote speaker. The session commenced at 11:30 AM at the college campus. The speaker provided valuable insights into various higher education pathways available for students both in India and abroad. She discussed emerging career trends, global education systems, required skills, and scholarship opportunities. The presentation also highlighted the importance of proper planning, documentation, and preparation for competitive exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, and SAT for students aspiring to study overseas. The seminar proved highly informative and interactive, giving students clarity about future academic choices and global career prospects. The program concluded with a question–answer session, where students actively engaged with the speaker to clarify their doubts. The event was successful and beneficial, inspiring students to think beyond conventional academic boundaries and explore international learning opportunities.

GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous)
November 24, 25 & 26
GEMS NSS volunteers actively participated in supporting the Election SIR work at the Puzhaka Village Office on November 24, 25 and 26. A total of 10 volunteers were involved in assisting the staff with various duties related to election preparations.
The volunteers helped in data entry, arranging documents, guiding the public and providing general assistance to ensure the smooth functioning of the office. Their disciplined participation and teamwork were highly appreciated by the Village Office staff.

GEMS NSS unit 246 ,Children’s Day was celebrated at Puzhakatri Anganawadi on 14 November 2025 with great enthusiasm and joy. The program was organized to honour and encourage the happiness and well-being of children. A total of 35 volunteers actively participated in the event.

The Department of Travel and Tourism Management organized a peer-teaching programme titled “Bharishya 2025” as part of the Peer Teaching – Peer Plus initiative. The programme aimed to enhance collaborative learning, presentation skills, and subject understanding among students through peer-led instruction. The session focused on the topic “Advanced Technologies in the Tourism Industry.” The student presenters explained various emerging technologies that are transforming the tourism sector, including artificial intelligence, virtual reality, online booking platforms, smart tourism applications, and digital marketing tools. The presenters delivered the session confidently using simple explanations and relevant examples, making the topic easy to understand for fellow students. The peer teaching approach encouraged an interactive and engaging learning environment. Students actively participated in the session by asking questions and sharing their views on the application of technology in tourism. The discussion helped clarify doubts related to the practical use of advanced technologies in tourism operations and management. The programme successfully improved students’ awareness of technological advancements in the tourism industry. It also helped develop communication skills, teamwork, and confidence among the student presenters while promoting active learning among participants The Bharishya 2025 – Peer Teaching Programme was informative and effective in achieving its objectives. The initiative strengthened peer learning and enhanced students’ understanding of contemporary trends in tourism. The Department appreciates the efforts of the student presenters and the active participation of all students.

The programme was designed to provide students with a clear understanding of the fundamentals of research, its logical framework, and its relevance in academic and professional fields. The session was held at MPN Hall and commenced at 10:00 a.m. The resource person, Mr. Muhammed Abdul Shameem TV, delivered an insightful and engaging talk on the concept of research, emphasizing the importance of logical thinking, problem identification, research design, and methodology. He explained various stages of research in a simple and practical manner, making it easy for students to grasp complex ideas. The speaker also highlighted the relevance of research in tourism studies, particularly in understanding industry trends, consumer behaviour, and sustainable development. Real-life examples and experiences were shared to motivate students to develop research aptitude and critical thinking skills. The programme witnessed active participation from students of the Department of Travel and Tourism Management. An interactive session followed the lecture, during which students raised questions related to project work, data collection methods, and career opportunities in research. The resource person addressed all queries patiently and provided valuable guidance. The programme successfully enhanced students’ understanding of the logic and importance of research. It encouraged students to approach academic projects systematically and analytically. The session also motivated students to pursue research-oriented thinking in their future academic and professional endeavours.
