The Department of Travel and Tourism Management, in association with the Puzhakkattiri Grama Panchayat, organized an Extension Programme on 25th August 2025 at Paloor Kotta Waterfalls. The programme focused on promoting cleanliness, waste management, and responsible tourism practices at the destination. The event commenced at 10:30 AM with the participation of faculty members, Panchayat representatives, and 32 second-year students of Department of Travel and Tourism Management. As part of the initiative, waste bins were installed and sign boards were placed at prominent locations to remind visitors about proper waste disposal. Students were actively contributed and participated in the event and The Grama Panchayat representatives appreciated the efforts of the department and encouraged more such initiatives in the future. The programme successfully combined community service with practical learning, enabling students to experience the significance of environmental conservation in tourism. The session concluded with positive feedback and suggestions for future collaborations to enhance destination management..

The Training and Placement Cell in association with the Mentor-Mentee program, organized a motivational and Goal setting session titled “SYNERGY – Know Your Passion and Conquer the World” on 20th August 2025 at 10:30 AM. The event aimed at guiding students to identify their passions, develop their personality, and prepare themselves on goal setting for personal and professional success. the Resource Person for the session was conducted by Mr. Firoze Kochi, a renowned Personality Trainer, Senior Business Officer, and MA in Clinical Psychology, associated with Zydus Health Care Limited. With his vast experience in personality training and mental health, Mr. Firoze delivered an inspiring session filled with practical insights.
The session aimed at to help students identify and nurture their passion and to equip students with strategies for building confidence and self-awareness. He shared real-life experiences and case studies to motivate students to pursue their dreams with confidence. Interactive activities and discussions were conducted to engage the students and test their decision-making skills. The outcome of the program, Students gained clarity on how to discover and align their passions with their career goals. The session boosted students’ confidence and helped them understand the significance of personality development. Overall, the program was useful, and students had various doubts that was cleared, and they gave positive feedback.

The Alumni Lecture Series – 7 was successfully held on August 20, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The event featured a lecture on “Discover The Social Within: Life Skills, Learnings And Real Stories” by Mohammad Murshid A P, a renowned Training and Development Facilitator, Social Work Professional, Educator, and Student Relationship Officer at Skilz the Learning Hub. The lecture emphasized the importance of life skills and social work in personal and professional development, with Mohammad Murshid A P sharing valuable insights and real-life stories that engaged the audience. The event was well-structured, with Shuhana Farvin P delivering a warm welcome address and Shahana V K expressing gratitude in the vote of thanks. The attendees appreciated the speaker’s expertise and engaging presentation style, making the Alumni Lecture Series – 7 a resounding success. Key takeaways from the lecture included the significance of life skills and social work, as well as valuable lessons from Mohammad Murshid A P’s real-life experiences. The PG Department of Social Work organised the second edition of Tea and Truth on 19th August 2025 on the topic “Scrutinizing Vote Chori: If We Remain Silent, Who Will Raise the Voice?”. The programme was attended by the Vice-Principal, Mr. Samad, and the Head of the Department of English, Ms. Afroza, along with students from both the Social Work and English departments. The session witnessed an engaging discussion on various aspects of the issue, including the meaning of vote chori, its implications for Indian democracy, and the possible impact on people’s rights and lives.

The PG Department of Social Work, GEMS Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Ramapuram, organized a Faculty Exchange Program with St. Mary’s College, Puthanangadi, along with an orientation session on Social Work specialization on 18th August 2025 at M.P. Narayanamenon Hall from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
The program began with welcome speech done by Ms. Shahma P P, 3rd sem MSW student, along with a brief introduction, highlighting the significance of specialization selection in professional Social Work practice. The session was handled by Mr. Jaseel P. J., Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Social Work, St. Mary’s College, Puthanangadi, and Mr. Aravind K. R., Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, GEMS Arts and Science College, Ramapuram.
The orientation titled “Choose Your Right Path: Orientation on Social Work Specialization” aimed to provide students with clarity and guidance in making an informed decision regarding their specialization area. The sessions were highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and clarifying their doubts.
Mr. Aravind K. R. provided a detailed session on the Community Development specialization. He highlighted the importance of community-based interventions, participatory approaches, and the role of social workers in promoting sustainable development, empowerment, and social justice at the grassroots level.
Following this, Mr. Jaseel P. J. delivered an insightful orientation on the Medical and Psychiatric Social Work specialization, explaining its scope, relevance in the healthcare sector, and career opportunities available for students opting for this stream. He emphasized the professional roles of social workers in hospitals, mental health settings, rehabilitation centers, and clinical practice.
A total of 20 third-semester MSW students participated in the program. The event successfully met its objective of providing professional insights and practical guidance on specialization choices, thereby helping students align their academic interests with their career aspirations. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Fathima Najwa N 3rd sem MSW student.

The PG Department of Social Work, GEMS Arts and Science College, Ramapuram, organized a Workshop on Office Automation on 13th August 2025 at 9:30 AM in the Computer Science Lab. The session was handled by Mr. Anoos Babu, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science, who introduced the participants to a wide range of office automation tools and highlighted their significance in both academic and professional contexts. Through detailed explanations, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice sessions, students were able to explore the practical applications of these tools in managing documents, data, and presentations more efficiently. The workshop created an engaging and interactive learning environment that not only familiarized students with the technical aspects of automation but also allowed them to build confidence in applying these skills independently. A total of 33 students actively participated in the session, making it both lively and productive. Participants expressed that the training was highly beneficial, as it provided them with practical exposure to automation tools, enhanced their technical competence in documentation and data management, and deepened their understanding of how automation contributes to improved efficiency and productivity in academic as well as professional tasks. Overall, the workshop was well-received, leaving the students better equipped with essential digital skills and prepared to integrate office automation tools effectively in their future endeavors.

The Department of Multimedia, in association with the ED Club of Gems Arts and Science College (Autonomous), organized a seminar titled “Pixel to Profit – Transforming Creativity into Business” on 22nd August 2025. The session was conducted as part of the Entrepreneurship Development initiative, aiming to provide students with valuable insights into converting creative skills into viable business opportunities. The resource person for the seminar was Mr. Irshad P, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, who delivered an engaging session on entrepreneurship development. He emphasized the importance of innovation, adaptability, and digital creativity in building a successful career. The seminar highlighted how multimedia students can leverage their creative talents to establish startups, work as freelancers, or develop entrepreneurial ventures in the media and design industry. The session was attended by 18 students from the final year BA Multimedia batch. The students actively participated in discussions and clarified their doubts regarding business models, financial planning, and the practical aspects of starting a creative enterprise. Overall, the seminar was highly informative and motivating, encouraging students to think beyond conventional career options and to explore entrepreneurship as a promising path in the multimedia field.

The Department of Multimedia, in association with the Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Calicut, organized a 5-day Inter-Collegiate Faculty Development Program and E-Content Workshop from 4th August 2025 to 8th August 2025. The program was held at the E-Content Development Centre and Multimedia Production Studio, GEMS Arts and Science College, Ramapuram.
The event aimed at equipping faculty members from various institutions with essential knowledge and hands-on skills for creating high-quality digital teaching content. The workshop focused on modern teaching-learning tools, digital pedagogy, and innovative e-content production techniques.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. Naveen Mohan, Principal of GEMS ASC. Mr. Muhammed Binshad K, Head of the Department of Multimedia, delivered the welcome address. The first day's technical sessions included a Program Production session led by Mr. Suhailudheen T, Assistant Professor, followed by a session on Presentation of Content in front of Camera by Ms. Shameera Kunhu, Assistant Professor, PTM Govt. College. Each day featured hands-on sessions, collaborative activities, and discussions on e-content development.
The event concluded successfully with active involvement from faculty members, meaningful interactions, and appreciable feedback from the participants and resource persons.

As part of the Student Induction Program, the Department of Multimedia at GEMS Arts and Science College, in association with IQAC, conducted Communion 2K25, a Communication Development Program on 18th July 2025 at 2:00 PM. The session, held in Classroom 406, marked Day 7 of the induction series aimed at enhancing the communication skills of newly admitted students.
The resource person for the session was Ms. Raneesha K. K, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Application. With her engaging approach and expertise in communication strategies, Ms. Raneesha guided the students through practical and interactive activities that helped them boost their confidence in speaking, listening, and expressing ideas effectively.
A total of 34 first-year multimedia students actively participated in the session. The program created a platform for students to understand the importance of communication in academic and professional settings, and fostered an environment for collaborative learning and self-expression.
